Delhi’s air quality index stood at 180, in the “moderate” band, on Wednesday morning, 28 October, up 22 points from the same hour on Tuesday, according to the Delhi government’s AQI portal. Fine particles, PM2.5, were the main pollutant at 35 of the 56 monitoring stations reporting that morning, out of 60 in the network.
Sensitive Groups Told to Go Easy
The portal’s health advisory for the moderate band says people who are sensitive to air pollution should limit outdoor exertion. The 101 to 200 range is the “moderate” category on the national index; a reading above 200 moves Delhi into “poor”. The portal shows no timestamp for the reading and updates hourly, so the figure can change through the day.
Back Near Last Weekend’s Level
Delhi’s AQI was 191 on Sunday, 25 October, and an earlier forecast had warned that air quality could turn poor again after the city’s coldest October night. For other regions, see the Weather Updates page.
Station-Wise Figures on the Portal
The Delhi government’s portal lists readings station by station on a separate page. The reading cited here is the citywide figure; individual localities can be higher or lower. This report will be updated if the index crosses into the poor category.
