Updated 6:20 PM IST, 25 October 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at about 4:15 PM on an Indian Air Force aircraft and flew by helicopter to Khurda for the RBI facility at Info Valley-II, Jatni, PTI reported. The data centre cost ₹169 crore, according to the report, and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman travelled separately for the event. About 2,100 police personnel were deployed, and the Prime Minister was due to leave the state at around 6:30 PM. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the centre “will add to Odisha’s journey of development”. Read IPB’s report on the inauguration and Modi’s speech.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar at about 4:45 PM on Sunday, 25 October, according to a PIB release issued on 24 October. He will first be in Varanasi, where he will open a garment factory and attend the Indian Air Force’s aerial display at Namo Ghat.
A Day Split Between Varanasi and Bhubaneswar
In Varanasi, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a new garment manufacturing facility of Arvind Limited at about 11 AM. The release says the plant is meant to boost textile and apparel manufacturing and create jobs, mainly for women. At about 1 PM he will be chief guest at the Air Force Day Aerial Display 2026, themed “Wings over Ganges”, which marks the 94th anniversary of the IAF. The Tejas, LCH Prachand, Su-30MKI and Rafale are among the aircraft listed, along with the Surya Kiran and Sarang display teams.

In Bhubaneswar, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police will regulate traffic between 5:40 PM and 6:40 PM on the route from the RBI data centre to Biju Patnaik International Airport, ETV Bharat reported.
Four Data Centres, Tier IV Rating
The new facility has four data centres that will host payment and settlement systems. It holds Uptime Institute Tier IV certification, which the release calls one of the largest such facilities in the global banking, financial services and insurance sector. The training institute will teach cybersecurity, quantum computing, artificial intelligence and other frontier technologies to BFSI staff.
Press reports describe the site as a greenfield campus of about 18.55 acres at Info Valley-II in Khordha, with work starting in 2023. It is the RBI’s second data centre; the primary one is at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. Analysts quoted by the Free Press Journal said Bhubaneswar is far from the western and northern borders, outside the highest seismic zones and not a subsea cable landing point. The RBI itself has not published a cost; PTI put it at ₹169 crore. Then RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das laid the foundation stone on 22 March 2023.
Sunday Programme to Watch
The Varanasi air show is the first event on the schedule, followed by the Bhubaneswar inauguration in the evening. The RBI is expected to say when the new site takes over live payment and settlement workloads from existing systems, but no date has been announced. Earlier IPB coverage of the Namo Ghat show is here, and recent RBI decisions are in the MPC minutes report. More in Daily Updates.
