Parts of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will see scattered rain and thunderstorms in the first week of November, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast, with the moisture drawn in by Cyclone Murasu over the Bay of Bengal. The outlook, reported by The Week on Sunday, 1 November, runs from 1 to 5 November and is heaviest over Chhattisgarh.
Konkan to Marathwada Under Thunderstorms
The IMD expects isolated to scattered rain over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra and Marathwada through 5 November. On several dates it has flagged thunderstorms and lightning, with gusty winds of 40-50 km/h that can touch 60 km/h. The Week’s separate Maharashtra report named Nagpur and Yavatmal among the districts to brace for thunderstorms on 1 and 2 November. Commuters in Mumbai and Pune should expect wet roads in the evening, though the forecast does not call for heavy spells.
Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh Get Light Spells
Gujarat is forecast isolated to scattered rain until 3 November. Madhya Pradesh has scattered rain until at least 5 November. Farmers with harvested kharif crops lying in open fields or mandis have the most to lose from the showers, and covering produce is the usual advisory in such spells.

Chhattisgarh Faces the Bigger Spell
Chhattisgarh sees some rain on 1 and 2 November, then heavy rain on 3 and 4 November, with isolated very heavy rain likely, as the cyclone’s remnants push inland. Showers return from 5 to 7 November. The state already recorded 28 cm at Kusmi in an earlier spell, as IPB reported in its Chhattisgarh rain story.
The cyclone itself is covered in IPB’s Cyclone Murasu report. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir get rain and snow on 1 and 2 November, with another spell around 5 November for J&K and Ladakh. The IMD’s next bulletin on 2 November will update the Maharashtra and Gujarat timings.
