Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Monday, 2 November. The four-day event, organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), runs until 5 November and carries the theme “Invest. Innovate. Inspire.” Republic reported that the government is looking for about $220 billion in clean energy investment between 2027 and 2030.
Two Global Meetings Under One Roof
The ninth session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly and the fourth International Conference on Green Hydrogen are being held alongside the expo, the first time the two have been co-located, according to DD News. Invitations went to 34 countries for the summit and expo, and the Solar Alliance invited representatives from 128 countries to its Assembly. Developers, battery storage firms, green hydrogen companies, manufacturers, financial institutions and policymakers are expected.
The 500 GW Target and What Sits Behind It
India aims for 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Republic’s report puts installed capacity at 308 GW now. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said the Prime Minister’s presence reflects renewable energy as “a key pillar” of the Viksit Bharat vision. MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi named four pillars for the transition: policy stability, market creation, ecosystem development and transmission infrastructure. He listed hybrid projects, battery storage, floating solar, agrivoltaics and the National Green Hydrogen Mission as priorities for the next phase.
