Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will stay dry through the week to 9 November, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its all-India bulletin issued at 4:47 pm on 3 November. The bulletin lists no significant weather for northwest India, though shallow fog is already cutting morning visibility on the plains.

Visibility Fell to 500 Metres in Delhi and Amritsar

At 8:30 am on 3 November, IMD recorded shallow fog at isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab. Visibility was 500 metres at Amritsar and at Delhi’s Safdarjung observatory. Safdarjung read 21.0°C with 91 per cent humidity and mist at 8:30 pm that night, according to IMD’s city observations.

The bulletin also notes an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Haryana, but it does not link the circulation to any rain forecast for the region.

Days Run Cooler Than Normal in Uttar Pradesh

Maximum temperatures on 2 November were markedly below normal, by more than 5°C, at most places in East and West Uttar Pradesh. West Rajasthan was appreciably below normal, by 3.1°C to 5°C. The lowest minimum anywhere in India on 3 November was 11.7°C at Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

ETV Bharat, citing IMD, reported that a western disturbance may bring light rain and snowfall only to higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand stay largely dry.

Dry Weather Through 9 November

IMD has issued no rainfall or fog warning for the region beyond the shallow-fog observations. Early-morning commuters and drivers on highways in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi may meet patchy low visibility until mid-morning.
