Odisha will see fairly widespread rain through Wednesday, 4 November, before it eases, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its all-India bulletin of 3 November. Bihar stays dry all week, West Bengal gets only isolated rain, and the Northeast is forecast isolated showers with no heavy-rain warning.

Odisha Dries Out by 8 November

IMD rates Odisha’s rain as fairly widespread on 3 and 4 November, scattered on 5 and 6 November and isolated on 7 November, with dry weather after that. Heavy rain was forecast at isolated places on 3 November. Thunderstorms with gusts of 30–40 km/h are likely on 4 November, and fishermen and farmers on the coast should check local advisories. IMD’s agromet note asks for drainage arrangements for standing crops in Odisha.

Fog in Bengal and Bihar Mornings

West Bengal had isolated rain on 3 November. At 8:30 am that day shallow fog was recorded at isolated places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and in Bihar, and visibility was 500 metres at Jalpaiguri and Supaul. Reduced visibility was also logged at Basirhat and Suri in Gangetic West Bengal and at Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and Koraput in Odisha. IMD’s bulletin shows Bihar dry through the week. ETV Bharat, citing IMD, reported rain in Jharkhand on 3 and 4 November.

Northeast Gets Light Showers, Not Heavy Rain

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya have isolated rain on 3 and 4 November, dry weather on 5 and 6 November, and isolated rain again from 7 November. News24, reporting IMD’s forecast, said Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura could see isolated to scattered showers from 3 to 8 November. IMD has put out no heavy-rain warning for any Northeast state. An upper-air cyclonic circulation is sitting over northeast Assam.
