The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast hailstorms with thunderstorms over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Friday, 30 October. For Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Chandigarh it has also warned of thundersquall winds of 50–60 kmph, gusting to 70 kmph, according to its all-India bulletin issued on 29 October.
Hail and Gusts Over the Capital Region
IMD classes rain over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi as “fairly widespread” on Friday, meaning 51 to 75 per cent of the area could see showers. The hail warning is for isolated places, so some neighbourhoods may get ice and strong wind while others stay dry. Gusty thunderstorms of 40–50 kmph are also forecast over Punjab, East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
Farther east, IMD expects heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in East Uttar Pradesh and heavy rain in Uttarakhand. Rain over West UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan is rated “scattered”, covering 26 to 50 per cent of each area. IMD has not stated alert colours for these warnings in the bulletin.

The lowest minimum in the country was 11.0°C at Una in Himachal Pradesh.
IMD had flagged this stretch in earlier outlooks. Our reports on the Delhi-NCR hail alert for 29–30 October and the Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh hailstorm warning carry the earlier forecasts.
