Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh Heavy Rain: IMD Forecast Till 3 Nov

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Sunday, 1 November, with very heavy showers at isolated places in both on 2 November, according to its forecast as reported by India.com and News24. The rain is linked to a low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea that the IMD expects to become a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal and move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, News24 reported, along with remnants of Cyclone Arnab.
Gusty Winds Over Telangana and the Coast
Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam can expect gusty winds of up to 50 km/h, the forecast says. Telangana is likely to see thundersqualls on 1 and 2 November, with winds reaching 70 km/h. Fishermen on the Andhra and Odisha coasts, farmers with standing paddy and anyone travelling on low-lying roads should follow district and state disaster management advisories; the IMD forecast reports carry no school or transport closures.
Odisha Gets a Second Spell on 3 November
Odisha’s forecast has two heavy-rain days, 1 and 3 November, with the very heavy band on 2 November in between. Parts of Ganjam district were already cut off by earlier rain from the cyclone; IPB’s report on the Odisha floods carries the official toll of three dead. The IMD forecast does not give district-wise alert colours in the reports IPB checked.

IPB’s earlier report on coastal Andhra Pradesh has the 2-3 November outlook, and more is in Weather Updates. The IMD’s next bulletin will show whether the depression has formed.
