Jio Platforms shares began trading on the BSE and NSE on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at ₹1,358 each, 21.36% above the ₹1,119 issue price, according to exchange listing data reported by The Tribune and ANI. The listing values the Reliance Industries subsidiary at about ₹12.5 lakh crore and makes it India’s second most valuable listed company, behind Reliance Industries itself.
₹239 a Share for Allotted Investors
Anyone who received shares in the IPO is sitting on a paper gain of ₹239 a share at the opening price, the difference between ₹1,358 and ₹1,119. Whether that holds depends on trading through the day. Business Standard’s market blog noted that the benchmark Sensex was down about 900 points while Jio listed, so the stock opened into a falling market.
The retail portion was subscribed 2.72 times, well below the 22.19 times for the issue as a whole, so a retail applicant had a better chance of allotment than institutions did.

Second Only to Reliance on the Exchanges
The ₹30,213 crore issue was priced at the upper end of its band and ran from 21 to 23 October. Qualified institutional buyers bid 70.55 times the shares set aside for them. We reported the final-day subscription earlier in Jio Platforms IPO Subscribed 22.19x on Final Day; Listing on Oct 28.
At ₹12.5 lakh crore, Jio now sits ahead of Bharti Airtel, which Free Press Journal put at ₹12.18 lakh crore, and behind Reliance Industries at ₹16.15 lakh crore. It is also the country’s largest telecom company by market value. Anant Ambani, quoted in the Tribune report, said: “Prasad is always shared. Today Jio is shared with India.”
First Closing Price Will Test the Premium
The reports give only the opening price, not the day’s high, low or close. The closing figure on the exchanges will show whether the 21% premium survived a weak market. Tuesday’s session, the last before the listing, is in our market close report; more business stories are on the Economy page.
