Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are likely at isolated places in 18 districts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, over the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast reported on 6 November 2026. The rain comes from the remnants of Cyclone Murasu, which weakened into a low-pressure system after crossing the south Andhra Pradesh coast on 3 November.

The heaviest recorded fall so far was at Aswaraopeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, which received 276.8 mm between 8.30 am and 3 pm on 4 November, The Morning Voice reported. IMD’s 4 November bulletin had placed a well-marked low-pressure area over east Telangana and adjoining coastal Andhra Pradesh by 11.30 am that day, and forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rain for east Telangana and north coastal Andhra Pradesh, as reported by Nation Path.

Rain Moves South Over the Weekend

For Andhra Pradesh, reports say isolated light to moderate showers are likely, with slightly higher activity possible in Nellore, Tirupati and Bapatla toward the weekend. Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can expect fairly widespread rain over the weekend, with isolated heavy showers on 5 and 6 November, and Kerala isolated heavy rain from 6 to 8 November. South interior Karnataka may also see heavy showers. Readers in these states can find the earlier report on heavy rain for Kerala and Tamil Nadu till 8 November.
