BPSC Cancels 1,711 Assistant Professor Posts in Bihar Medical Colleges

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled its advertisements for 1,711 Assistant Professor (Specialty) posts in government medical colleges and hospitals, according to a notice dated 29–30 October reported by Careerindia and Education Bytes. The commission said it acted because the Bihar Health Department withdrew the original requisition. The cancelled advertisements are numbered 04/2025 to 28/2025.
Applicants Must Wait for New Advertisements
Candidates who applied under the 2025 advertisements cannot rely on them any longer. BPSC has asked applicants to wait for the revised notices. The reports do not say whether application fees will be refunded or whether earlier applications will carry over, and the commission has not given a date for the fresh advertisements.
Posts Across Clinical and Pre-Clinical Subjects
The cancelled vacancies covered subjects such as anaesthesia, general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, microbiology, biochemistry, pathology, radiology and anatomy. Applicants needed an MD or MS in the relevant subject. The advertisements were issued in 2025; the reports do not give exact publication dates. One report lists the number of posts as 1,171 in a summary table, but the article text and the second outlet both say 1,711.

New Notice Depends on a Revised Requisition
BPSC says the process for issuing fresh advertisements is under way. According to Education Bytes, the new notifications will be released once the commission receives a revised requisition from the Health Department. Neither the department nor the commission has said what will change in the revised list. Readers can follow related state recruitment stories in IPB Daily Updates.
