Shots were fired at actor Tiger Shroff’s car near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu on Sunday evening, Mumbai Police said. “Shroff is safe and has not sustained any injuries in the firing incident,” police said in a statement, ANI reported. Police said his driver and an autorickshaw driver were injured. Reports said the attackers, believed to be three men on a motorcycle, fired at the car as the actor was returning home after a football match, though accounts of the number of rounds fired differ.

Investigation Under Way

Mumbai Police have formed 12 teams to trace the attackers and are examining CCTV footage from the area, which falls under the Juhu police station, The Tribune and Onmanorama reported. One person has been detained from Santacruz for questioning, police said; officials have not said what role, if any, the person played. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and asked for a swift investigation and strict action, sources in his office told ANI.

Gang’s Claim Unverified

Two gangsters linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have claimed responsibility for the attack, India Today and Business Today reported. Police have not confirmed the claim. A social media post threatening film industry figures linked to Salman Khan has also surfaced, but its authenticity and any connection to the firing remain unverified, The Week reported.

Earlier Threats to Film Personalities

The firing follows earlier threats against film personalities in Mumbai, and comes amid wider questions about security for public figures in the city and how quickly police can trace attackers who use motorcycles and crowded streets to escape. More in IPB’s Daily Updates.
