Mumbai can expect a hazy morning and mainly clear skies on Dussehra, Tuesday, 20 October, with temperatures around 36°C by day and 26°C at night, the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre in Mumbai has forecast, while light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms are likely in Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and the Kolhapur ghats. IMD’s all-India bulletin also warns of isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph over Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on Tuesday.

Light Showers From Thane to Sambhajinagar

Light rain or thundershowers are also possible on Tuesday and Wednesday in Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Jalgaon, Nashik, the Nashik and Pune ghats and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, The Week reported, citing IMD Mumbai. No orange or red alert has been issued for the state. Revellers heading to Dussehra events in the evening may face brief showers in the ghat districts, and farmers with harvested kharif crops in the open should keep them covered, as IMD’s agromet advice suggests.

Guna Received 11 cm of Rain

In central India, Guna in west Madhya Pradesh recorded 11 cm of rain in the 24 hours to 8:30 am on Monday, IMD’s bulletin showed, one of the heaviest falls in the country that day. Isolated thunderstorms with winds of 30–40 kmph are forecast over Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday and over west Madhya Pradesh until Thursday. Night temperatures were markedly above normal in parts of west Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea that IPB reported on Monday is expected to head towards the Somalia coast later this week.

Kolhapur Showers Linger Into Wednesday

On Wednesday, light rain is forecast only for Kolhapur and its ghats, and IMD’s week-long outlook shows “no significant weather” for west and central India after that. Mumbai is expected to stay warm and largely dry. More on IPB’s Weather Updates page.
