May the 17th- A Day against Homophobia.
17th of May is observed as the International day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Queerphobia. It is observed as a day to raise awareness against Homophobia and propagate interests towards LGBTQ+ rights activism and work. Many LGBTQ+ events are organised to promote the core values of the day across the globe. The day as a concept was conceived in 2004 by the IDAHOBIT(international day against Homophobia, biphobia, Transphobia) committee and by 2016 was celebrated across 132 countries around the world. 17 May was specifically chosen to commemorate the abolition of ‘Homosexuality’ from the list of diseases in 1990.
