Child pornography, is your child safe?

Child pornography is illegal in Indian under the section 14 of the POCSO act 2012. Involving into child pornography in any ways is criminal offense and will lead the accused to the jail for at least five years.
In Delhi, police file over 100 FIRs for child pornography and 50 are arrested today.
During the raid in November of 2021 at 77 places across India, they found that the crime was committed through WhatsApp group under the Only Child Sex Videos. They did also found gadgets, pen drives and laptops related to pornography.
30 people were arrested in 38 cases of child pornography in Nagpur this year.
Child pornography is the biggest tread and need to be tackled. Even after it being a criminal offense, the abuse is taking place, still the demand for it is high. The demand for child pornography was increased to 200 percent because of the pandemic. The demand is high therefore there is supply. People should be made educated as its also their responsibility.
128,531 crimes against children were recorded last year in India. An average of 350 cases were reported each day in pandemic according to an NGO’s analysis of data from National criminal Records Bureau (NCRB). However, the drop to 13.3 percent was seen than 2019.
According to Interpol 2.4 million cases of online sexual child abuse was recorded in India from 2017-2020. Out of these 80% victims are girls below 14 years.
Looking at this data child safety has become crucial. Therefore steps being taken. A memorandum of understanding (MoV) has been signed between NCRB and the NCMEC. Under this MoU , NCMEC (national centre for missing and exploited children) provides cyber tipline complaints or information to NCRB (national crime record bureau) regarding sexual abuse against children which is being shared on social media like Facebook, Instagram, etc.
The IFSO unit analysis all the inputs and identifies the suspects. A team under the supervision of Raman Lamba, ACP, IFSO, inspector, SI Manoj and others has been constituted.
Operating MASOOM (mitigation of adolescent sexually offensive online material) was initiated by IFSO unit earlier.
It’s also parents responsibility to protect their child from such abuse. They should teach their child the difference between good touch and bad touch. Many times it’s our own relative or the close one who initiates this crime, therefore keeping eye on children is necessary. Also trust your child when they report you about some abuse and take a look in this matter instead of ignoring them thinking that they are only kids.
