Twitter- tale of trolls

The rise of social media gave immense power in the hands of people. They have a platform where they can reach out to all kinds of people, which previously used to be very tough. But with great power comes great responsibility, which is very hard to maintain.
Most Twitteratis have peddled hate for quite some time now. I mean, the only logical thing we know to do when we don’t have anything to say is what? ABUSE! It’s very easy and effective. Better yet, create a fake definition of nationalism and call them an ANTI-NATIONAL! There are no healthy discussions of Twitter anymore, but I guess it has a lot to do with not facing someone in person. It could be anonymity, or not. When you run out of your points, abuse and move on! It works.
I personally believe that freedom of speech and expression should be absolute (with some strict, not vaguely defined guidelines) but it is a two-way street, it cannot be freedom of speech when you like it and not, when you don’t.
Find one particular good informative thread in the labyrinth of retweets and you’ll see wonder as soon as it goes viral, if it even does. Abuses will follow.
Disagreement is not black magic, it can happen and there can be a rational way of not enforcing opinions and agreeing to disagree sometimes. It can happen between strangers, friends, teachers and even family. The only key is to keep and open mind and admitting defeat sometimes. Your opinions can differ and match on different topic with the same person. You’re not a part of a gang when you think alike.
I’ve been very active on Twitter during this lockdown and it can be very toxic. The key is to take it as a joke, it can be the best form of entertainment. Forget Netflix, open Twitter and embrace the hate.
