Fake Feminism: Not a solution for rapes

The country is developing, so says our honourable political leaders. It is actually true, we are the largest functioning democracy in the world, a growing economic superpower, a nation that is extremely developed in space and science and lastly a nation with a strong armed forces. These figures look pretty convincing and fills our hearts with pride. But should we not, at least for once take a look at our social aspect.Poverty is increasing, there is an unfolding humanitarian crisis in front of our eyes. People are dying of hunger. When our country is immersed in such devastating problems, a social evil, probably the worst, creeps in: rape. Napoleon Bonaparte said, “Give me good mothers, I shall give you a great nation”, all our ancestors even in Indian history told us to protect and respect women. But what are we doing? Rapes and crimes against women are increasing daily. The fake feminists do not talk about all, the media does not cover it and the there are no efforts made on the part of the government.

Devika, a 17 year old girl was brutally raped murdered and her dead body was left stripped on the railway tracks in Kothagudem, Telangana. The feminists did not storm the Twitter with new hashtags and defaming the masculine gender as whole. There was no media coverage from the media giants of the nation. There is no information of this heinous act in the public domain. Traces of 3 incline Barium was found after the post mortem. The railway police discovered the corpse and investigation is due.

The irony is such that neither any politician spoke about it on their social media handles nor any celebrity, feminist or activist. Hardly people know about it. My point is not to talk about the incident and stop the thing right there but it to find a long term solution to this problem. Many people are saying that she was raped because of being a Dalit, even Bramhin girls are raped. The teenagers of India lack sex education as it is termed as a vulgar act to talk about ‘intimate things that takes place between two people behind the doors’, but what is the result, rape of innocent girls. This is my earnest request to all the powerful people reading this, India has the special talent of addressing short-term problems with long-term measures, the powerful must now do something, this heinous act of rapes should stop. Because the system doesn’t weaken by some wrong act of any politically or officially weak person but by not doing the right act by the powerful office holders. The Indian Constitution protects women legally, but the laws have no moral backing from the citizens. Last time when Dr. Priyanka Reddy was raped and her corpse was burnt , movements started voices were raised but where are they now? Aren’t Dr. Reddy and Devika both innocent, were sacrificed to satisfy the devilish desire of a few others. A mere movement, some tweets, candle marches won’t be a solution, in fact they are just a medium of expressing the grief. I think it is our right to ask the Government for laws against rape and not construction of temples. It is an irony that in a nation where “Devi”s are worshipped with great pomp and festivities and “Devikas” are brutally raped and murdered.
Thanking you,
A teenage Indian fed up of rapes because even I have a mother and sisters in my family.
