Your cloth masks are not safe

In India most of the people are seen wearing cloth masks. There are different types of masks available in market but people finding cloth masks more affordable as they can be washed and reused again.

Another reason why people prefer cloth mask is because it suits what they wear. However many normal people and tailor learned making masks and started selling them to earn profits, extra earnings besides everything and many did bought them because along with style it was not cutting their pockets unlike other masks which needs to be thrown away after 1 or 2 use.

But as the new covid variant, Omicron is spreading widely and even more faster, experts has warned us against the cloth masks.

According to Greenhalgh most cloth used for covering as a mask is just for fashion accessories. The cloth used for making masks don’t have to meet any kind of health standard unlike those of N95 respiratory mask. N95 has to pass the health standard to make sure they filter out 95 per cent particles says Greenhalgh.

Also another point to note down, the mask that we make are even clean? There are many shops around who has those cloth mask hanging around by itself, are those masks clean? The tailor making masks are using clean cloth?

Attitude of people in India towards covid 19 is no different, some don’t even wash their mask on regular basis while some mask are not covering their nose and mouth but their chin. Those lose dirty mask aren’t going to save us from covid 19. Double layered, clean, tight masks are necessary if we want to stop the spread.
