The World Health Organization has alerted that COVID-19 is spreading and accelerating all around the world. WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has asked urging the countries to remain vigilant said that the pandemic is speeding up with the most number of cases reported in a day.

He was quoted saying, “The pandemic is accelerating. More than 150,000 new cases of COVID-19 were reported to WHO yesterday – the most in a single day so far. The world is in a new and dangerous phase. Many people are understandably fed up with being at home.

Countries are understandably eager to open up their societies and economies.” he said.
“But the virus is still spreading fast, it’s still deadly and most people are still susceptible,” Tedros added, as the worst is yet to come. The coronavirus outbreak started last year killing around 454,000 people and infecting 8.5 million worldwide since the outbreak in China last year.

Tallying up the counts, the United States remains the worst affected by the pandemic, reporting a total of 22,97,190 positive cases and 1,21,407 deaths. Following behind are Brazil with 1,038,568 cases and 49,090 deaths, Russia (569,063 cases, 7,841 deaths) and India (395,812 cases, 12,970 deaths).
