A destructive Typhoon called Haishen caused havoc in Okinawa and other Southern Japanese Islands over the weekend. The traffic remains disorganized whereas domestic flights in and out of airports in southwestern Japan were canceled on Monday indefinitely.

Regional officers from Miyazaki stated that rescue workers are set to look for four missing people after a mudslide hit a hilly village of Shiiba previously on Monday.

Although electricity was restored, 340,000 people were still without power;  approximately four million people were advised to evacuate as of Monday afternoon.

38 people were injured out of which five of them suffered fatally.

Following this, the typhoon reached South Korea, leaving the roads flooded, causing power outages to thousands of homes and destruction of buildings.

South Korean Meteorological Administration stated that the typhoon passed waters off the eastern coastal cities of Sokcho, before heading towards southern and eastern regions.

Cars struggled to navigate the roads in Ulsa and other coastal cities like Busan, Sokcho, and Gangneung due to the roads overflowing with water.

A few bridges and railroads were shut down, hundreds of flights to and from the mainland were canceled. More than 1600 residents were evacuated in the southern mainland due to the possibility of landslides and other concerns.

Electricity was restored to 11,523 out of 17,620 people whose houses had no power in southern mainland areas of Jeju.

By late Monday, Haishen which means sea god in Chinese was expected to reach the northeastern regions of North Korea which had already undergone the devastations caused by another typhoon called Maysak last week. Adding more to the problems that it was facing due to US-led sanctions, coronavirus induced economic issues, causing chronic food shortages.

The eastern coastal cities of Wonsan and Tongchon’s widespread flooding was shown on North Korean tv, but the immediate report of casualties caused by Haishen hasn’t been shown as of yet.
