Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been sent to two more days of judicial custody, and their next hearing will be held on October 21. The two were produced on Monday, October 19, before the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) at Delhi’s Mandir Marg police station, the last day of their earlier five-day custody, after Delhi Police sought an extension, The Daily Jagran reported.

Das and Ranka were arrested on October 13 after entering Jantar Mantar, which had been de-notified as a protest site a day earlier. On October 14, an SEM sent them to five days’ judicial custody on allegations of trespassing and obstructing police, and they have since been held in Tihar jail.

Legal Team Opposed Any Extension

CJP legal head Ratna Singh had said on X that there was “no reason to extend judicial custody” and accused the prosecution of delaying their release. A hearing on Sunday, October 18, began late and ended without a release order, as IPB reported earlier.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was released on a peace bond earlier. This report will be updated after the October 21 hearing.
