After hours and hours of counting and a long anxious wait, the race to Presidency finally has a winner and it’s none other Democrat candidate Joe Biden.

After a close neck-to-neck contest with fellow Republican candidate and ex-US President Donald Trump, Biden crossed 270 electoral college votes with a win in Pennsylvania.

Biden’s path to victory went through the key battle-ground states with six of them already swinging to the Democrat’s favour.

Even though Trump secured the crucial states of Florida, Ohio, Texas, and Iowa it could not ultimately fetch him a second term at the White House.

Biden has already won Arizona, Minnesota, Nevada, and has a lead in Georgia. However, his biggest success was the reversal of the “Rust Belt” losses suffered by Hillary Clinton in 2016 which saw the important states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania turn blue ultimately leading Joe Biden to become the 46th President of the United States.

Kamala Harris too scripted history as she became the first black woman as well as the first woman of South-Asian descent to become the US Vice President championing the multiculturalism that defines America but is largely absent from Washington’s power centers.
