As a precaution, the Bengaluru police chief has ordered that no gatherings, agitations, or protests be held within a 200-meter radius of any school, college, or other educational institution for the next two weeks.

The Karnataka High Court today referred the case to a larger bench after five women from a government college in Udupi filed petitions challenging hijab rules.

“Given the magnitude of the issues being disputed, the court is of the considered opinion that the documents be placed in the hands of the Chief Justice to determine if a larger bench can be established in the subject matter,” Justice Krishna Dixit wrote in the ruling.

Sanjay Singh, an Aam Aadmi Party MP who addressed the hijab issue in the Rajya Sabha, told NDTV: “A daughter should be respected, and there should be no tampering with her honour. The entire world has witnessed you abusing a female while posing as Lord Maryada Purushottam Ram. This debate is being promoted by the BJP “..The burqa-clad college student who was seen on tape yesterday standing up to a throng of saffron scarf-clad persons made the initial step in her show of defiance, according to Karnataka’s education minister BC Nagesh.

“The students in Mandya did not want to gherao the girl who was approaching the college.” When she cried “Allah-hu-Akbar,” no other students were there… Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh was quoted as saying today by news agency ANI that “Allah hu Akbar” or “Jai Shri Ram” should not be encouraged on campus.”The males in saffron shawls who heckled a Muslim girl wearing a Hijab were goondas,” Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi responded.

As the Karnataka High Court, which is considering petitions on the subject, urged for peace, Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai ordered the closure of all high schools and institutions for three days “to ensure peace and harmony.

“Protests pitting the hijab against the saffron have erupted in several sections of the country.
