PRIVATISATION OF INDIAN RAILWAYS.

Indian railway has launched an initiative of spreading out-train operation to private entities, divesting its near-total monopoly in railway. Our prime minister has invited a request for qualification for private players for the operation of passenger train service 109 origin-destination pairs of routes using 151 modern trains. The main purpose of this initiative is to introduce modern technology, to boost safety, provide better quality travel experience, enhance job opportunity .it would also generate private sector investment of about 30000crore. Privatization of the railway would also mean that trains will be available on-demand and passenger waitlists will decrease. This is a pilot project that’s why they have only a few operations like onboard service, entertainment, food, cleanliness passenger amenities fare collections. Out of 13000 passenger trains only 150 train invites for bids. If they meet the demand then the number of trains can be expanded.
