Phase 2 trial of Oxford Covid-19 vaccine is set to begin from Tuesday

The phase 2 human clinical test of Oxford Covid-19 vaccine candidate in the country by Pune based Serum Institute of India(SII) is set to begin from Tuesday.

Around 1600 people aged below 18 years will be allowed to participate in the trial. SII has signed the agreement to manufacture the vaccine developed by Oxford University in alliance with British-Swedish pharma company.

The Drugs and Controller General of India (DGCI) has given permission on August 3 for conducting the phase 2 and 3 human clinical trials of the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine candidate in the country.
