An officer of Bidhannagar East police station said they were already alert by a caretaker of the house, who used to live at the garage that Banerjee was neither opening his door nor was responding to calls made on his cellphone and that the situation seemed suspicious to them.

A team of officers from the police station came to the BJ 409 house and broke open the door to find Banerjee hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom.
