Indigenous Airborne Locust Control System developed

The severity of the locust attack has made the farmers concerned about losing their produce. The locust has spread from the western coast of India, extending up to Delhi. Motivated by Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the IAF has taken up the task of designing and developing a indigenous Airborne Locust Control System (ALSC) for Mi-17 flights.
This move of indigenous development of ALSC has come in the backdrop of UK firm, who couldn’t supply the kits required. They were unable to supply IAF with the modification kits for spraying automized pesticides to arrest locust breeding during May 2020 on time due to the issues arising out of COVID-19 pandemic. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.
