The Chinese and Indian troops have been engaged in a bitter feud since the last four months in the Eastern Ladakh, both sides trying to reclaim the disputed border. At a time like this when both the parties are engaged in a fierce standoff with China’s PLA in eastern Ladhak, the Indian army provided essentials to Chinese citizens.

Three of the Chinese citizens had lost their way in sub-zero temperatures at an altitude of 17,500 feet in a border area in Northern Sikkim. The Indian Army officials in their statements said they the citizens who had lost their way could have been in danger. Hence the soldiers who were deployed there immediately reached out to them in order to protect them from the extremities of the harsh climate, they were given warm clothes, food, and medical assistance including oxygen.

They were also given proper guidance to reach their destination, following which they had returned. The Chinese citizens expressed their gratitude to the Indian soldiers. The four months-long border dispute amongst the Chinese and Indian soldiers had escalated when 20 army personnel were killed in a clash that took place in Galwan Valley on June 15.

Following the unsuccessful attempts by the Chinese troops to occupy the Indian territory on the southern bank of Pangong Lake, Indian troops occupied a number of strategic heights on the southern bank itself to obstruct any action. In such a discordant situation, a humanitarian gesture from India’s side goes to show that despite such issues, India doesn’t let it hinder its compassionate ways.
