Coronavirus vaccine race: the US being readied to start supply by Nov 1

While experts around the world are advising governments to desist from overpromising citizens a COVID vaccine, the US government has told states to prepare for distributing a coronavirus vaccine by November 1.
The announcement has caused concern among many, as it is felt to be a presidential election-clinching gimmick rather than one based in science. The US goes to the polls later this year. According to a report in the Associated Press, in a letter to governors dated August 27, Robert Redfield, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said states “in the near future” will receive permit applications from McKesson Corp., which has contracted with the CDC to distribute vaccines to places including state and local health departments and hospitals.
