After the blast: Satellite images show destruction in Beirut

Satellite photos, captured by CNN from Planet Labs Inc., reveal a huge crater at the Beirut port site of Tuesday’s blast. The pictures indicate that any building either suffered significant damage or was demolished by the blast. Also remaining are huge grain silos located in the center of the peninsula. The field where two port buildings stood was replaced by a huge, water-filled crater. Through building to the immediate south of the port appears to have suffered significant damage. Many still even retain their structure and many reduced to ashes.
