Final year students can take exams again

State higher and technical education minister Uday Samant on Tuesday declared that final-year students will be allowed to attempt exams multiple times during a visit to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).
This comes as final-year examinations at SPPU are postponed to begin from October 12 with the pattern changing as well.
The examination being online with multiple choice questions (MCQ) format, the students had raised their concerns. Of the 2.5 lakh students studying in the final year were ready to take the examination, 2 lakh have enrolled for the online examination while 50,000 will physically appear in centres in districts like Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik.
Samant said, “As the format of the examination is completely different if students fail, they don’t need to wait for the next six months to re-appear for the examination.
Students can immediately apply to sit for another attempt. We have taken this decision as the examinations are already delayed and students should not waste more time.”
