#blacklivesmatter: George Floyd Police Brutality case

After 24 hours of the death of George Floyd, a 46 year old Black man from Minnesota in the hands of 4 Minneapolis police officers, hundreds of people have gathered, protesting for the cause.
According to police reports, the encounter happened at 8am in the morning on Monday after receiving a call that a man tried to use forged documents at Cup Foods.
Police allegedly said Floyd was intoxicated in the car and they had to force him out of it for a legal arrest. Whereas, the video evidences of by standers show the police kneeling onto the neck of Floyd. In the 9 minute video, Floyd could be seen begging the Officer to remove his knee from neck as he felt difficulty in breathing and complained of hurt in the neck and stomach.
The officer only removed his knee from Floyd’s neck when he had to be taken on the strecher by the paramedics. He was taken to professional healthcare where he was announced dead later on. As the protests have increased, the 4 policemen have been fired from the police department. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first case of police brutality against people of colour (POC), neither will it be the last.

Every year police brutality kills a significant number of POC and among the categories, the number of Afro-Americans is the highest. Statistically, the chances of a black man/boy getting killed in the hands of a policeman is 2.5 times more than a white man. For women, the figure is 1.4 times.
1 in every 1000 Afro-Americans are killed in police encounters whereas the number for white Americans is 39 out of 100,000.(official reports)
