BCCI will also strike IPL on China, the complete plan is ready
The border dispute between India and China is also having an impact on the IPL. As the title sponsor of IPL is Vivo and Vivo is a Chinese company. So for this reason. Now the Indian Cricket Board has also put pressure on the BCCI to break its contract with Vivo. But the BCCI has made its stand clear on this.
The BCCI has said that “if we are losing money by breaking this contract, then we will not break these contracts. And if we are benefiting from breaking this contract or if we are not pertaining to any loss, then we are ready to lose this contract.”
The tensions between India and China have been increasing for some time.
The increasing tension has put pressure on the BCCI to terminate the contract with China’s mobile company Vivo.
The BCCI has so far maintained that it has no intention of breaking ties with Vivo. An official of this board said that if we will benefit from the contract then we will consider terminating the contract. But this decision will be taken in the next governing council meeting of IPL.
The date of the meeting is not yet fixed as per the reports. The BCCI tweeted that our soldiers along with the Ladakh Chinese Army were martyred in a violent clash. Keeping this in mind, the IPL Governing Council has called a meeting next week to review the league’s sponsorship deal.
The mobile company Vivo is the title sponsor of the IPL, which pays Rs 440 crore every year to the board as a contract. IPL will conclude a five-year contract with the company in 2022. A senior official attending the meeting said that whether the County World Cup and Asia Cup will be held this year is not yet clear.
In this situation, how can there be a meeting regarding IPL?
Yes, we need to review the sponsorship right now, but no decision has been taken on breaking or postponing the contract yet. Sponsorship remains to be reviewed.
The review means that the contract will be decided considering all rules. If the decision to break the contract would be in Vivo’s favor. Why would we decide to terminate the Rs 440 crore contract every year?
We will decide to break the contract only when everything is in favor of BCCI. Earlier, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal had said that the money is coming to India through sponsorship contracts and not going there.
The BCCI receives a large portion of the money that Chinese companies make in India by selling their products in the name of brand promotion.
The board taxes the central government at 42 percent on that earnings. In such a situation, this agreement is not for China but for the benefit of India. The reason for not ending this contract is the contract till 2022 with Vivo.
If BCCI abruptly terminates the contract, it may have to pay compensation to Vivo. The board has already suffered a lot due to the Coronavirus. And so the BCCI wants to avoid taking such a step.
Not only this, IPL 13. There is already suspense. Although the BCCI is trying its best to get the IPL done this year. If the board does not succeed in this, it may have to bear a loss of around Rs 4,000 crore.
