Delhi will stay dry through at least October 25, with clear skies and afternoons that get a little warmer each day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report issued at 6 pm on October 20. The IMD expects a maximum of 31–33°C across Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, October 21, and nights between 17°C and 20°C, after Safdarjung recorded about 32°C by day and just above 17°C overnight on Tuesday. No major weather warning is in force for the capital.
Clear Mornings, Warmer Afternoons
Winds will stay light: 5–10 km/h in the morning, 10–15 km/h through the day, blowing from the north and turning south-easterly by evening, NewsTak reported, citing the IMD. Thursday should look much like Wednesday. By Friday, October 23, the daytime high may reach 32–34°C, and skies are forecast to turn partly cloudy on October 24 and 25. The IMD forecast shows no rain for Delhi in that period.
Monsoon Left on 15 October
The southwest monsoon withdrew from the whole country on October 15, its normal date, Business Standard reported. A drier pattern usually follows over north-west India. Earlier IPB reporting said forecasters expected Delhi’s air to slip into the “poor” category from October 21 as nights cool; see Delhi Records Coldest October Night at 17.1°C; Air Set to Turn Poor.
Thunderstorms Stay Over Central India
The wet weather this week is further south and west. The IMD expects thunderstorms with lightning over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, with wind speeds of 40–50 km/h and gusts up to 60 km/h. The IMD’s outlook for Delhi runs to October 26, with mostly clear skies and no rain.
