Delhi Traffic Police will divert vehicles on several arterial roads in East Delhi between 5 pm and 8 pm on Tuesday, October 20, as crowds gather for Dussehra celebrations and Ravana effigy burnings, according to an advisory the department issued on Monday. The roads covered are NH-24, Vikas Marg, Road No. 56, Road No. 57 and Road No. 57A, with diversions applied “as required” depending on crowd and traffic conditions.
Kadkadi Mod and CBD Ground Among Busy Spots
The advisory names Kadkadi Mod, CBD Ground in Hasanpur and the Road No. 57A stretch as areas with special arrangements. Commuters have been asked to use alternative routes, allow extra travel time, slow down near Ramlila grounds and park only in designated parking places. Police said roadside parking near celebration venues will face action. In central Delhi, traffic staff are posted at the Hanuman Mandir and Delhi Gate junctions, where large crowds and VIP movement are expected.
DCP (Traffic) Shweta Chauhan said smooth traffic movement was the priority and more personnel would be deployed at crowded points. Help is available on the traffic helpline 1095 or 011-25844444, and on WhatsApp at 8750871493. The evening is expected to be dry, as IMD forecast a dry, warm week for north India, though Delhi’s air is forecast to turn poor from Wednesday.
